We recommend that a welcome message be sent out to students before class begins and through drop/add. Messages can be sent within Canvas to the whole course as Announcements or as messages to individual students within the class.

I am ________________ and will be your instructor for __________________. This course is being taught completely online through the University of Florida Canvas learning management system. The text for this course is__________________.

The course will be available and ready for you to access at _______ (time) a.m. on Day, Month. At that time (or as soon after as possible) please follow the directions below to log into the course.

  1. Go to http://elearning.ufl.edu/
  2. Click the e-Learning in Canvas button
  3. Use your gatorlink username and password to log in.
  4. Click on _____________________(course name) at the top or using the drop down menu.
  5. Click on the Start Here module link on the home page.
  6. View the materials and Course Introduction lecture then complete the syllabus quiz discussed in the Start Here module.
