The material in this book was originally created for an online pattern making course at the University of Florida.  I created the class to make it easier for people who may have limited time and who may be separated by geography to learn some of the basic pattern making techniques.

I received a great deal of help with the creation of the original course. Many thanks to all of these people.

Dr. Judy Robinson: Formally an Instructional Designer with the University of Florida Center for Instructional Technology and Training and who later taught in the University of Florida College of Journalism. She has been extremely supportive since the day I first brought this crazy idea to her.

Will Green: Created the self-tests and taught me how to use Macromedia Flash.

Priscilla Chapman: Created the template for the original course CD and taught me how to use it.

Nathan Lewis: Created the original class template and taught me how to make web pages.

Rachel Stevens: Did some graphic design and taught me how to use Adobe Illustrator.

John Knaub: Photographed antique garments for the gallery.

Brenna Rizzardi and Courtney McClain: University of Florida students who created some of the first half scale garments.

Jim Shearon:  Cutter/Draper at the Guthrie Theatre and for Prince. He taught me everything I know about menswear.  It saddens me greatly that he is no longer with us.

Will Smith: My husband, who has been enormously supportive during the 5 years it took me to create the original course and the additional time it has taken me to convert the material to an eBook.

Funding for the original course was provided by the University of Florida office of Research and Graduate Programs through the Fine Arts Scholarship Enhancement Award Fund, as well as through the Office of Academic Technology.
